AFC hosted the West Coast Next Step retreat and coach’s training camp in San Diego CA on April 26 – April 29, 2012. The Next Step retreat is a follow up meeting to assist those who responded to follow the call at the Chinese Mission Convention West Coast 2011. Designed to help “next steppers” to clarify their unique kingdom calling within God’s redemptive plan, it provided a step by step plan to help them to equip themselves. We had about 80 attendees, among them are the church leaders and those brothers and sisters who were touched by God and made a life commitment to serve God.
Speakers included Dr. George Murray, Dr. Terry Walling, and Dr. Albert Lam, Rev. Isaac Chen, and Rev. Bob Lo. They shared with us their experience on the mission field, encouraged us to focus on Jesus, to be steadfast in our faith, and face reality. This helped prepare attendees to enter the mission field and fight a good fight for our Lord.
One thing we would also like to mention is that we had a training seminar especially designed for church pastors and leaders who are life coaches.
The main speaker, Dr. Terry Walling, gave an in-depth analysis of the series of workbooks “Coaching Training.” He actively interacted with participants and taught them a series of steps to examine and ask appropriate questions and effectively help those who answer the call. We also had great results from life coaches who taught us how to use what we learned with participants.
At the same time, the Committee developed a unique “100-day” breakthrough plan. Each professionally trained coach will be available to 3 or 4 “next steppers” after the retreat to help them focus on reality and potential problems that might occur within their belief and to help them to develop and live out their “100-day” plan to walk on God’s path whole heartedly. It is a rare close up learning experience for participants.
The participants were greatly encouraged and received help from the retreat. They reaffirmed their commitment and received guidance. We had brothers and sisters who traveled from as far away as France, Boston, and Texas tell us that it was “worth the trip”.
